History and art meet in this outdoor painting class at Kincaid Park’s former nuclear missile bunkers. Explore Anchorage’s Cold War role as one of America’s first lines of defense during the Cold War and then create a watercolor piece to commemorate your visit. This talk and painting class is perfect for all skill levels.
Please dress appropriately according to the weather. Will be held rain or shine.
$80 material fee; registration required. Recommended for ages 16+. Please note that this class involves walking roughly ¼ mile on uneven ground.

About the artist
Don Kolstad was born in Southern California in 1952. In 1982, Don decided to make art his full-time focus and moved to Alaska, inspired by the region’s beauty. Don has been the featured artist at many fundraising auctions including the Mayor’s Ball and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. The last several years Don has been teaching watercolor, drawing, oil classes and giving workshops along with his work in the studio and Plein Air painting.
