Join Ashley Young for an introduction to the history and visual language of Northwest Coast formline design. Using guided, step-by-step instruction, participants will create their own raven head design while learning about the shapes, forms, and techniques that make formline art distinctive. After drawing, students will bring their artwork to life using watercolor pencils.
$15 materials fee, includes museum admission. Museum members receive a 10% discount.

About the Artist:
Ashley Nashaawóo Young is a Tlingít musician and certified K-12 art educator based in Anchorage, Alaska. Her ancestral land is Yakutat, Alaska where she loves to four wheel to the beach and have picnics with her family by the ocean. With an emphasis on the creative process, Ashley encourages her students to be lifelong learners.
