Our natural environment shapes us, challenges us and strengthens us. In the case of survivalist instructor Terry Burns, wild places are where we truly learn who we are. From the Amazon to the Arctic, adventure has found Terry in surprising ways, shaping him into the environmental advocate and hunter he is. Living and hunting in Alaska honed his skills and respect for wild places and animals, which he expressed in his appearance on the survival series show "Alone." This Earth Day — an international holiday to honor the need to protect the environment — join in conversation with Terry Burns as he presents a community conversation about connection with land and nature.

About the Speaker
Terry Burns was born and raised outside of Hurricane, West Virginia. Growing up, he was consistently drawn outdoors and hunting and fishing nearly every day possible. A near-death experience gave him a new perspective on life at age 21 and made him realize there was much more to life than materialism. After moving to Alaska, he’s set his own course. From commercial fishing to personal adventures across all 50 states and seven continents, he’s been on the hunt—often with a backpack and fishing pole—for deeper connections with the wilderness.
